Q: Give us a little background on how you selected your career path. How did you know that this was your calling?
A: I have always been the chubby kid. When I was young I use to wear size husky, it’s the tender way of calling a little kid fat. I come from a long line of obesity. In High school I started to run Cross Country, I was horrible at it. But It help me lose weight. and it kept me lean for the most part. The summer before my junior year I decided to join the city gym when I came back that year it was like I was fed steroids a whole new Victor Cruz came back that year, I was hooked. Since then I have a had a passion for fitness and my dream job and goal in life was to open a gym I didn’t know what kind, I just knew I wanted to one. And then I found CrossFit.
Q: What is your training philosophy?
A: It’s a list so Ill try to keep it short
- Don’t sacrifice Form for intensity until you can truly handle the volume.
- If you walk away saying I couldn’t have gone any faster, be proud of yourself you did it.
- Don’t worry about how much you weigh, worry on how many notches you have on that belt.
- Last but not least, I can kill you an hour a day in the gym but if you’re going to feed yourself Crap for the other 23 I don’t think you’re going to see the results you want, short and simple “eat right”
Q: What is the biggest misconception clients have about CrossFit?
A: The biggest misconception is I cant do that, “here is what I say you will never know if you don’t try.
People really doubt how strong they are, if at first you don’t succeed , try, try again.
Q: What separates you from other professionals in your field?
A: I Love my field, to me training and coaching is not a job or work. I love the fitness industry and everything it does, the second thing that separates me is I have done it all, Bodybuilding, Power lifting, I’ve been 275lb at 5’6, I’ve had the 48” waist, I have broken my back and have numerous injuries and I’m Faster, stronger and healthier than ever before thanks to CrossFit.
Q: What is one piece of free fitness advice that you would give anyone?
A: Never doubt how strong you are, if you don’t think you can do it, you have already defeated yourself. If you try it and failed at least you know and now you have goal, if you never tried you would have never known.
